Leah Pantéa at New Vista

2025 Youth Program

Location: New Vista High School, Boulder, CO

Led by Leah Pantéa, the New Vista Art Club and teacher Megan Carlson brainstormed ideas for the Common Area Community Mural in the atrium of New Vista High School's new building.

The expansive atrium in the school's lower level sparked the idea of a river bed with a school of fish swimming throughout. The variety of the fish represents the diversity of the student body - each individual fish finds their place at New Vista and works together with their classmates to make a thriving student body. The creek bed, just like New Vista, is a full eco-system of different elements working together in harmony. The mossy creek floor creates a healthy environment for growing flora growing to release oxygen. Birds and bugs rest on the surface while sun rays shine through the water to illuminate the scene.

The students wanted the mural to feel “safe” and “grounded,” choosing earth tones to reflect these moods and to balance the bright neon colors of the surrounding interior design.
