Street Wise Arts proudly announces the return of the Street Wise Mural Festival, September 26-27, 2025. The two-day event will include the installation of vibrant new murals across Boulder, celebrating the power of public art to connect, inspire, and uplift the community.

Now in its seventh year, Street Wise Arts’ flagship program explores the intersection of art and activism (ARTivism) while centering womxn, BIPOC, LGBTQIA, and emerging artists based in Colorado and beyond. We bring together international, national, and local artists to install world-class murals, putting Boulder on the map as a progressive, inclusive arts destination.

In 2025, Street Wise will reflect on the many ways joy sparks resistance. As our communities navigate political, cultural, and social changes, art and artists play an important role in inspiring joy and resiliency. Public art especially is a gift to the community, sparking joy and serving as a collective reminder of our humanity. Our continued joy reveals how changing tides cannot stop our creativity, celebrations, and happiness. Street Wise Mural Festival will use joy and creativity as tools of resistance, bringing together our community in the process.

The Mural Festival will primarily install murals in the Downtown Boulder area, enhancing the city center’s public art collection. “Downtown Boulder is thrilled to welcome Street Wise Arts’ annual Mural Festival back to the heart of downtown,” says Anna Salim, VP of Operations & Programming for Downtown Boulder Partnership. “Since 2019, their work has transformed Boulder’s visual landscape, bringing more color, creativity, and vibrancy to the city. Their artistic contributions have become a defining part of what makes our community great.”

Additionally, Street Wise Arts will partner with the City of Boulder Office of Arts & Culture in support of the Experiments in Public Art program. On September 28, artist Bimmer Torres will give a lecture about his mural practice, from street art and graffiti to large-scale municipal mural projects. His event includes a community mural-making workshop at the Main Boulder Public Library in collaboration with Street Wise Arts. “We’re excited to be partnering with Street Wise on this exciting program that brings well-known mural artist Bimmer Torres from Denver to conduct a mural design workshop with Boulder youth and then paint an actual mural together!” states Brendan Picker-Mahoney, Public Art Program Manager. “His lecture at the Canyon Auditorium at the Main Library is also not to be missed!”

The Mural Festival will feature additional community programming including mural walking and biking tours, workshops, panel discussions, and exhibitions. Additionally, digital artists will activate murals through projection mapping and augmented reality. Artist lineup and programming details to be announced.

Street Wise Mural Festival is made possible by grant support from the Boulder Arts Commission (an agency of the Boulder City Council), Visit Boulder, Create Boulder, Community Foundation Boulder County, and Boulder County Arts Alliance.

2025 Festival Goals:

  • Install public artworks and execute programming that encourages conversations around social justice and community resiliency.

  • Support and empower a diverse group of artists.

  • Amplify how joy and creativity can fuel resistance in the face of an oppressive political landscape.

  • Inspire our community to come together in support of the arts and each other.
