About the role

The Program Manager helps plan and run Street Wise Arts programs from first idea to final evaluation. You will work with artists, clients, partners, schools, and site hosts, and you will keep contracts, budgets, and timelines on track. You will work alongside two other Program Managers and support 3-5 projects at a time. There is room to grow as the organization grows.

About Street Wise Arts

Street Wise Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization based in Boulder, CO. Our work in public art began in 2015, and we became a nonprofit in 2020. Our mission is to uplift artists and build vibrant, resilient communities through public art projects, creative events, and hands-on education programs.

We are small and flexible. We put artists first, support artists of all ages and skill levels, and work to make the arts accessible to everyone. Our programs include:

  • Partner Programs: Mural commissions and collaborations with organizations, institutions, and businesses.

  • Arts Education: Workshops and residencies led by professional artists in schools, community spaces, and older adult programs.

  • Mural Festivals: Seven self-produced festivals in Boulder, and a new partner festival program with local governments and other organizations that began in 2026.

  • Mural Tours: Walking and biking tours that share the stories of artists and their work.

What you will do

Manage programs and projects

  • Guide projects from proposal and scoping through artist selection, contracting, installation, and close-out.

  • Keep timelines, project records, and status reports up to date.

  • Track program budgets, keep projects on schedule and on budget, and report any differences from the budget.

  • Be the main contact for partner organizations, schools, and commissioning clients.

Support education programming

  • Coordinate workshop logistics and communication with schools and community partners.

  • Coordinate trainings and background checks for program artists and educators.

Build partner relationships

  • Build and maintain relationships with partners, sponsors, schools, and community organizations.

  • Coordinate with property owners, site hosts, and vendors on permits, lifts, materials, and insurance requirements.

Engage the community

  • Support programs and outreach in communities that are often left out of arts opportunities.

  • Help make sure every program reflects our commitment to equitable access, cultural diversity, and social justice.

  • Represent Street Wise Arts at community events, partner meetings, and public events.

Support marketing and evaluation

  • Gather content, photos, and project updates for the marketing team.

  • Collect surveys and impact data for all programs.

Preferred qualifications

You do not need every item below. If you have much of this through paid work, volunteering, school, or life experience, we encourage you to apply.

  • Experience managing projects, programs, or events, ideally in public art, the arts, education, or a nonprofit.

  • Experience working with artists, schools, community partners, or vendors.

  • Experience tracking a project budget and keeping work on schedule.

  • Familiarity with contracts, permits, or insurance requirements for public or site-based projects.

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort managing many projects at once.

  • Clear written and spoken communication.

  • Experience working with diverse communities, youth, or older adults.

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

  • Comfort with everyday digital tools, such as email, shared documents, spreadsheets, and project tracking.

  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered work.

Work environment

  • Hybrid schedule with a flexible work week: ability to choose work hours Monday - Friday around events and meetings.

  • About one or two days per week on site at program locations when running. During event season (spring and fall), you may also work some evenings and weekends. Hours are tracked and paid, and your total hours will stay within the expected range of 15-20 per week.

  • A weekly virtual team meeting.

  • Travel to program sites in the Denver metro area and along the Front Range. Mileage reimbursement: No.

  • Some site visits may involve being outdoors, walking, or being near lifts, ladders, or materials. Reasonable accommodations are available.

Pay and benefits
